WildAid: Marine Protection

When the buying stops, the killing can too.

WildAid is best known for their work advocating against wildlife products (see their section under Animal Welfare). However, they also collaborate with the Ecuadorian government to ensure the Galapagos Islands remain one of the most biodiverse ecosystems on Earth. They have assisted with the transition to a much larger "no-take zone" in the Pacific through improved vessel monitoring and updates to the patrol fleet. Additionally, advanced training for staff is helping the Galapagos Biosecurity Agency better prevent the incursion of invasive species. Bently Foundation awarded WildAid with $100,000 in 2018 to support this initiative.
