The Cabrach Trust formed in 2011 to help regenerate a remote Scottish community. Their first major initiative is forming the Cabrach Distillery which will produce single malt whisky. To secure B Corp certification the distillery will pay a living wage, source water on site, and use meticulous recycling and packaging policies, carbon offsetting and biomethane for energy. Profits will support other community regeneration projects and, in addition to employment, they will provide training and education. A heritage centre that celebrates the history of whisky distillation will add to the draw, which is expected to attract 12,000 tourists per year. A community and events hub, all-abilities pathway network, and biodiverse planting project will further enhance the beauty, sustainability and sense of pride in the Cabrach community.
In 2021, Bently Foundation awarded The Cabrach Trust with a monumental £1,000,000 grant to ensure that the Cabrach Distillery becomes a reality in the very near future.
