The Bay Lights

A monumental light sculpture and generative art installation on the SF–Oakland Bay Bridge.

Initially unveiled by artist Leo Villereal in March of 2013, the Bay Lights is an iconic light sculpture on the Bay Bridge that connects San Francisco to Oakland. Shining from dusk until dawn, this 1.8 mile long, 500-foot high sculpture is composed of 25,000 LEDs that move in a forever-changing array of patterns.

In 2015, Bently Foundation contributed $499,500 to help ensure that this brilliant artwork would live on in perpetuity.
